DaDong here again. Croatia versus Ghana, and my lean is under 2.25.
Let me come at this from a different angle today. Last time I talked about Croatia's control. This time, I want to talk about Ghana's defensive structure and why this number might be too high.
First, let us look at Ghana honestly. Everyone talks about their physicality, their speed, their power. But people forget that under their current coach, they have become much more organized defensively. Two solid banks of four, very compact, very hard to play through. The distance between their defensive line and midfield line is usually no more than ten, twelve meters. That is hard to penetrate, even for a team like Croatia with good passers. Croatia will have the ball, yes. But possession without penetration is just numbers on a screen. It does not put the ball in the net.
Second, Croatia's scoring problem. I say this with respect. They are a fantastic football nation. But right now, they lack a killer in the box. Mandzukic is long retired. Kramaric is a good player but not a pure number nine who lives off crosses and through balls. Perisic is older now, still quality but not the same explosiveness on the wing. Croatia's goals in recent tournaments often come from midfield or set pieces, not from open play domination. Against a physically strong and well-organized Ghana defense, those chances do not come easily.
Now think about Ghana's attack. They are dangerous in transition, yes. But Croatia's midfield three are masters of game management. When Croatia lose the ball, the first thing they do is not counter press wildly. They drop into shape. Modric and Brozovic cut passing lanes. They force you to play sideways or backwards. Ghana wants to run, but Croatia will not let them run. It is like trying to sprint in mud. Frustrating.
Another factor. This is a match where both teams can live with a low scoring result. Croatia is happy with 1-0. Ghana is happy with 0-0 or maybe stealing a 1-0. No one needs to chase the game from the start. When both teams are okay with a slow burn, the under has a better chance.
The under 2.25 gives us insurance. Two goals only loses half. Zero or one goal wins fully. In a matchup where I see maybe one moment of quality deciding it, that insurance matters.
I have watched enough football to know that matches like this, on paper a mismatch, often turn into tight, tactical battles. Big names do not always mean big scorelines.

Ghana's defense does not get enough credit. I watched their recent matches in the African qualifiers. They are disciplined. Two lines that slide together, fullbacks that tuck in, midfielders that track runners. Is it perfect? No. Is it hard to break down when they are focused? Absolutely. And against a name like Croatia, you can bet they will be focused. Every player wants to show they can hang with the best.
On the other side, Ghana's attack. Here is the problem. They are dangerous when the game is stretched, when there is space to run into. Croatia will not give them that space. When Croatia attacks, they keep their fullbacks a bit deeper now. They do not commit eight men forward like they used to. They are more cautious, more calculated.
