Former Netherlands international Rafael van der Vaart revealed an amusing story from his time at Real Madrid alongside Wesley Sneijder during an appearance on Ziggo Sport.
Van der Vaart said: “I have a funny story with Sneijder. He called me the night before a game and invited me to go out. He was in the starting line‑up for that match, which meant I was almost certainly going to be on the bench. So I thought, why not go out and relax? As a result, Sneijder pulled his thigh muscle and came off after just five minutes the next day, and I came on to replace him, playing 85 minutes while still drunk.”
