Senegal beat Morocco 1-0 to win the Africa Cup of Nations final. After the match, Senegal defender Ismail Jakobs claimed in an interview that three players had been poisoned. However, according to African journalist, Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye refuted the poisoning allegations.
Gueye stated: “We were not poisoned before the Africa Cup of Nations final. We always travel with our own chef, and we ate really well.”
Prior to this, during the tournament, three Senegal players suffered physical discomfort and even fainted, which sparked various speculations.
